Growing up with 3 older brothers, there was an eclectic mix of music in the house from Punk to New Romantics but stumbling across the likes of Robbie Vincent on the radio introduced me to new music, never heard in the household before. DJ/Presenter Richie Green, The Soul Machine Show on the global Soul Radio Station Chocolate Radio. Monday & Wednesday Evening 6pm-8pm UK Time

My journey into music started in the early 80’s holding down multiple part time jobs in between school to fund my love of Soul & Jazz Funk. Most Saturdays I could be found in Finchley’s FAB Records looking for new releases and those hard to find imports. The evenings were spent sharing the day’s purchases with friends, mixed with seeing live music whenever I could and the music was firmly cemented into my soul.

Happy memories of seeing Kool & The Gang live. I stood next to the speaker stack, I’m sure my ears were ringing all week as I sat through lessons.

Some great influences from that era, I continue to explore music both old and new, sometimes the best track is the B Side!

With a love of the saxophone, which I have been playing for around 20 years, I was also lucky enough to have been under the tutorship of Butch Thomas, recording artist and Sting’s sax man for a time.

I’m delighted to be joining Chocolate Radio and bring this passion to the audience, with vinyl very much at the heart of my playlists. I’ll be sharing those special moments and playing those new purchases for the first time. Expect to hear some classics from the era along with new releases and a few guilty pleasures too.
