DJ Boom 80’s ……Soul Food

Boom grew up listening to the soul and jazz funk that his brother would buy on a Saturday afternoon. Dad would go to the pub Sunday and we would blast out Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind and Fire, Kool and the Gang, Azymuth and Level 42.

Moving forward a couple of years, and the Breakdance/Electro/Hip Hop explosion in the UK really took off and Boom embraced the scene with open arms.

From the years 1988 to present day Boom has worked in Pirate Radio (IBC) helping out with a Soul/Reggae show on a Wednesday night and a more dance orientated show on a Sunday evening.

An Ambient/Electronica show on a Saturday/Sunday morning for Commercial radio, (Kiss FM) followed in the 90s.

Boom has also been a DJ for Manchester based Skam Records and has played Live and DJ’d all over Europe and the UK, playing Electro Electronica Hip Hop and Techno, Producing two albums and many 12” Records along the way under the name MADE.

Now, your thinking where does Soul and Jazz Funk come into this…

Well…It never left, and now being given the chance to share my Musical History in the form of Soul Food with Boom Eighties i feel very honoured to be a part of Chocolate Radio.

I’ll be throwing in a few curve balls along the way , but always keeping it Soul Food.
