DJ Jabz ……The Grove Is Gonna Get You

It was at the age of 11 that Jabz knew he wanted to be a DJ! Having grown up listening to his mum’s soul collection and regularly tuning into the pirate station, Fantasy FM, he just knew he was destined to go down the DJing road and that this genre of music just resonated with him. He swapped his beloved BMX bike for a set of belt-drive turntables and, armed with his mum’s record collection, he would play to anyone any everyone, perfecting his craft!  Not long after, Jabz began building his own vinyl collection.

Jabz starting playing at house parties in and around Essex and East London.  One evening, fate leant a hand when a DJ from a pirate station happened to be at a party and recruited the young Jabz to the station, where he stayed for 7 years.

The gigs grew, with Jabz playing at London and Essex events.  Matt Jam Lamont from Kiss 100 heard a mixtape of Jabz’s and asked him to do a guest mix on the station.  Following that, Jabz did several guest slots on BBC1 Xtra.

Around that time, Jabz also ran a record label with one release reaching no. 2 in the Kiss 100 chart!

To this day, Jabz continues the crate digging for illusive vinyl. Jabz’s deep affection of the rarer side of soul and funk is evidenced in his unique and passionate presenting style. His shows radiate the love he has for his music.
