Steve Smith, a passionate lover of Soul, Funk, Nu Disco and Soulful House music which has taken him on a journey spanning over 40 years. Steve was inspired by early 80’s Soul Funk DJ’s such as the late great Froggy, Chris Hill and Robbie Vincent and enjoyed listening to their music on various radio stations across London & the Home Counties.

Steve quickly became an avid collector of vinyl records and from the age of 11, remembers taking regular bus trips to Chatham, Kent to indulge in the habit of crate digging and burning through what little money he had as quickly as possible!

Steve operated a successful mobile disco for many years under the aptly named ‘Desert Island Discos’, he has DJ’d with the original Funky Friday Crew and now holds a monthly residency at a local bar under his Funky Nation banner playing Soul Funk, Nu Disco & Soulful House to appreciating followers.

Steve started broadcasting regular ‘Lockdown Sessions’ via Mixcloud during the COVID pandemic and now hosts his Old Skool to Nu Kool show on Chocolate Radio.
